Plant A Rose Garden The Easy Way

The best time of the year to start a rose garden will be during early summer and late spring.  All the things needed are the shovel, the rose plants and the rose food.  It is important to assess the conditions of the four elements of nature – air, water, earth and fire, before initiating the garden. Each these elements should be in a state most suitable for the rose plant propagation.  The soil should have a ph that ranges from 6.5 to 6.8, and should be equipped with a good drainage system.

Water should be made available at least twice a week on the average, and should be avoided at nights.  Watering during late evening can encourage a powdery mildew which is an alarming rose disease.  Proper spacing, or air is also required when deciding to plant a rose garden.  Packed roses will fail to bloom, as the roots need enough space under the ground to strongly grow.  Morning sun is also preferred over afternoon sun, in a maximum length of six hours per day.

With all the elements in place, one can then get down to the business of actually planting roses.  Dig a deep hole that can accommodate the whole root ball and add three inches for the upper main stem.  Put rose food in liberal quantities at the bottom of the hole. Do not forget to mix loose soil with the rose food.  Then, place and pack down the rose plant, with the root down, covering carefully with loose soil up to two inches on the main stem.  Water the plant generously only during this initial stage.  Roses prefer moderately damp soils, so avoid drowning the plant with excess watering.  Fertilizers are extremely important.  Aside from the rose food installed during the initial stage, regular administration of compost can provide the soil with nutrients to produce really nice roses.

Successful growing of roses will result in thick bushes that need to be carefully pruned.  Yes, part of keeping a rose garden is dealing with the thorns and regular pruning.  Pruning will be beneficial to the rose plants not only for shaping them but also for removing dead woods and encouraging new bloom and growth. This activity can best be done using long thick gloves, by pass pruners and long-handled loppers.  Pruning guidelines greatly depend on the kind of roses being grown, but they are mostly done to maximize the flower blooming.

Roses are the flowers most closely associated with love.  They are the ones often presented to a partner during wedding anniversaries or birthdays.  It will definitely be a delight to have a bed of roses right at one’s yard, with all of the flowers abloom and with their heavenly scent lingering in the air.  Get all of these for free and plant a rose garden.
